Poem: RUTH

Hi readers,
Who missed me? 🌚
According to Allen Ginsberg, in Ginsberg, A Biography, “Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It’s that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what we really think, making the private world public, that’s what the poet does.” So when someone asked me to write a poem for her, I used words that I imagine a girl would absolutely love hearing from a loved one.
By the way, the first stanza is an acrostic poem, and I’m guessing you already know how much I like writing those, so… Enjoy.
This is for you, Ru. I love you ♥
Redamancy means something in her company and
Unflappable she remains in the midst of chaos;
This woman is everything a virago is and more-
Hard and soft in just the right places.
She’s so beautiful
And I’m sure she already knows;
But what she doesn’t know
Is that she causes my heart to stop
Just for the moment that I lay eyes on her
And a single whiff of her addictive scent
Makes me as dizzy as I am smitten.
She’s so sweet
And I’m sure she already know;
But what she doesn’t know
Is how her smile reminds me of fair night skies
And her voice, of calm sunrise-
Or how can she know that I want to
Always put that beautiful smile on her face?

Poetry … is the revelation of a feeling that the poet believes to be interior and personal which the reader recognizes as his own.

Salvatore Quasimodo, from a speech in New York, quoted in the New York Times.
