Poem: Fear

It’s like a thunderhead looming over me
It’s the patter of tiny feet I hear
Walking behind me in the dark
It’s the monsters and the walking dead
I imagine lurking in the shadows
Everything screaming in my dreams at night
Tree branches snapping, scraping
As I take my evening stroll
index 2
Fear is the little assassin that brings complete obliteration
It’s nameless
Faceless too

It paralyzes
It sucks all the happiness out of living
It erupts and smears my faith
Every time I want to live,
It rears its ugly head
I want to be fearless
But that feelingĀ  eludes me
