Dylan Thomas said, “Poetry is what in a poem makes you laugh, cry, prickle, be silent, makes your toe nails twinkle, makes you want to do this or that or nothing, makes you know that you are alone in the unknown world, that your bliss and suffering is forever shared and forever all your own.” And Allen Ginsberg  said, “Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It’s that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that’s what the poet does.” So I hope you can relate to what these talented poets have taken their time to write.
I’m sorry that the interval between each post in the series is so long. It’s because I haven’t been getting as many submissions as I’d hoped. Bear with me. And as usual, enjoy.

Tori Egbokare: THE PAST
I’m not sure I can run from my past anymore,
I’m sitting alone, broken and unsure,
I can feel the pieces of me as they drift to shore…
I won’t swim after them, I’m already lost.
He said I could burn my past away, or whatnot,
But even fire can’t undo these knots,
The memories and places,
They’re etched in the scars,
I can still remember the heat behind those bars…
The burning pain, just after his hands…
And how my son would just stand there like the crowds in the stands.
It hurt me so much, but I still couldn’t scream,
Couldn’t light the fire, let it flow upstream,
Instead I cried and wailed, did all that to blow off steam.
And all in the name of justice, I’m now sitting behind a glass screen.

Gafar: A JOURNEY TO CLIMAX
To make you climax
I’ll take you on a trip
Make circling tracks
With my tongue round your nips
Rise up to invade
Your longing wet mouth
Feel the pleasures cascade
As I dart in and out
I can feel you are soaking
And wanting a ride
Your muscles invoking
I am needed inside
Lie you down to connect
Move gently with intent
Into you I erect
My love’s monument
Dynamite uncovers
Your slippery hollows
Lucidity hovers
Fluidity follows
I lean down again
To your glistening face
You request with a grin
A changing of pace
My stinger’s release
From your nectar-filled flower
Prompts you to your knees
Raise your hips to my power
I start tilling your field
With my rigid steel plough
You bend and you yield
Turn your head, raise your brow
One hand on your side
The other gripping your shoulder
We crash- we’re the tide-
We’re cymbals- we’re boulders!
With us both fully knowing
Where this is headed
We change without slowing
Now I’m the one bedded
Sliding up sliding down
Grasp my chest for traction
You start to clamp down
I thrust hard in reaction
I raise myself to embrace
In this shared endeavor
Open eyes see your face
We are coming forever

Babs Tosin: TO A LOST LOVER
Sometimes, I sit alone in the dark
and sojourn on the wings of nostalgia
into glory days and blissful nights.
I let my mind wander through and through
So that everything around
Melts into memories
With those of you crowning this voyage
I let myself go
To places we’ve been together
Roads on which we kissed,
Points where you hugged me by my back
And unleashed magic on my neck
You repaired my wrecked soul
and whispered comfort into my marrow.
Home and solace resided
In the warmth of your hold,
And heaven, in the hollow in between your firm thighs
You taste better than anyone should
And I am afraid no one else would satisfy my hunger,
None else would suffice.
Forever would ask me of you.
I am certain that it would.
I fear that when it does,
I just might break into an ocean of tears and grief.
