This is a poetry collaboration with Jamie of Jamie’s Blog. He sent me the first stanza and I immediately took interest in it. Took me less than four minutes to reply him with the second. After that, it was just hours and hours of back and forth between us. We had fun writing this and we hope you have just as much fun reading it.  Don’t get confused though; he is “Jae” and I am ” Quaya”… Enjoy!
Jae

We made love in the dark

Because we had something to hide

Because I didn’t want you to see that my halo belies my soul

Quaya

We made love in the dark

To hide all the things that we lack

Our wings were torn from our skins

As our garments came apart at the seams

Jae

We made love in the dark

Because our eyes would judge

What our hands caress

And our mouths would condemn what our tongues revel in

Quaya

We made love in the dark

Because the light that comes

Out of our souls

As we mix our chakras

Would blind the world with its intensity
Jae

We made love in the dark

You held on to me for balance

As you straddled me

Your hands firmly gripping my halo It burns but you hold on still

We cursed and writhed as we became one in the dark

Quaya

We made love in the dark

As the wolves howled and I meowed

Purring in satisfaction

As your halo burnt deep into the core of my stream

Reflecting on my blood red wings

Jae

We made love in the dark

Your eyes piercing through my own

Your face distorted in pleasure and pain

I take hold of your horns

So I don’t fall into the dark
Quaya

We made love in the dark

Expunging ourselves from the garden

As we plunged deep into the lake of fire

I pulled hard on to your wings

As we fell with passion as our parachute

Jae

We made love in the dark
Because our hearts were the same

Black with pain and beating fast with sin

We came here to hide, to shield our scars from the sun

We came to defy the rules of love and stretch our limits

Quaya

We made love in the dark

Because it was the only time

That our cold bloods warmed

And we came alive

To channel the flow of the sin in our veins into one another

Jae

We made love in the dark

Because it felt like the light would scare you away

And it hurt to watch you go

And leave me here to fly no more

Quaya

We made love in the dark

Only then could I survive your lights

As I strapped on to your wings

And took them with me when I left

Jae

We made love in the dark

I needed you as I needed air

So I took deep breaths of your scent

Quenched the thirst for life with every kiss

Quaya

We made love in the dark

I breathed you in and exhaled lust

Filling the air with the musky scent of our passion

As we lay at the threshold of nature

Jae

We made love in the dark

Since our souls were without light

Since when we reached out the darkness embraced us

We’ve long since been in love in the dark

Quaya

We made love in the dark

Because only then could we lose ourselves

And our souls to love

Only to have them back in the morning

Jae

We made love in the dark

Your frame locking onto mine

Like a jigsaw piece incomplete

The morning would never come

Because we prefer the taste of the dark

Quaya

We made love in the dark

Only then did it matter not that

One slept in the light

And one proved loyal to the dark

Jae

We made love in the dark

And you hurried me with words that conjure desire

You recited the lines to make the markings on my skin come aglow

And then and only then did out passions match one another’s

Quaya

We made love in the dark

To cleanse each other and cauterize our souls

Of the mutual abhorrence of our kinds

And we laid benumbed in the aftermath

Jae

We made love in the dark

Lost our ways into each other’s arms

Lost our clothing and sought cover in our bodies

But found love in the midst of all this loss

Quaya

We made love in the dark

And submitted ourselves to the night

As we told feverish anecdotes

To each other’s souls

Jae

We made love in the dark

And told the lies to keep us close

Kissed the spots to keep us pleased

And prayed the night never ended

Quaya

We made love in the dark

As we moved through the valley

Shadows following in our trails

And promises to our predecessors

Being broken for our love

Jae

We made love in the dark

My heart is racing to catch up to you

My pulse turbulent as you lead me to ecstasy

Your touch is fire to my hot air balloon

Quaya

We made love in the dark

Capitulating on our desires

As our most treasured parts

Joined in alliance
Jae

We made love in the dark

No longer did we have to imagine our union

No more skies between us

We had the luxury to consummate our heart’s wanting…

So, in case you’re wondering why we started out in sync and sorta lost it later, it goes to signify the chaotic emotions going through their bodies and the unconventional kinda love that the poet personas share. And I know that it was long so if you got this far, I love you. In fact, to show how much I appreciate you, here’s 10 random facts about Smallee (Yeah, I like talking about myself. Who doesn’t?):

1. I always wanted to be a Lawyer as a child but now that I’m a Law student, I’m not sure anymore.

2. I don’t like the colour yellow.

3. Tbh, I sometimes think I’m running mad.

4. I love Aguda Oluwadoyinsola Comfort… She’s hands down one of my best friends on earth. I have plans for us, baby girl.

5. I haven’t told anybody my darkest secret (Sometimes I don’t even admit it to myself)

6. Apparently, I’m a coward when it comes to confronting people about some stuff. But it’s only because I don’t want to give them reason to hurt me with their words.

7. I am a nice person. No matter how hard I try to be wicked to people, at the end of the day I can’t help being nice.

8. I like taking midnight strolls.

9. I am a very paranoid person.

10. I’m so excited that I’m getting a cat soon.

Thanks for stopping by. If this is your first time visiting this blog, please come back. And tell a friend to tell a friend to visit. Also, don’t forget to follow, like and comment. Thanks ❤.
